The Hidden Facts of Food

Are you eating more than one bag of 100 calories snacks or overindulging in fat free cookies; and thinking you are safe because you are eating the healthy option. You might be surprised to find out that these “healthy” options are not so healthy after all. Marketers are quick to sell these low fat, low calorie, and low carb products to the public, but they are failing to mention what other ingredients they have to put in to make up for the things they are taking out. These extra items often include sugar, salt and/or fat, the triple imperative for good tasting products. Ultimately, you still end up being a victim of the food industry, as too much of these other ingredients cause the same problems you were trying to avoid by choosing the 100 calorie option.

What then are you suppose to do? The most realistic approach is to consume these products in moderation. Remember, they are still a guilty pleasure, they may be a little healthier, but they will still contain high amounts of sugar, salt, or fat. Your best option is to eat more whole and natural foods rather than these processed products. Mother Nature is the top chef when it comes to producing well balanced and sensually satisfying snacks.
